The Confederated Exiles are a loose collection of like minded individuals more than they are a nation. The individuals of this confederation are unified only by their absolute insistence upon self-reliance. This mindset extends further than merely rejecting collectives and cities – it permeates every aspect of their lives. Most notably, the citizens of the Confederation reject their elemental heritage absolutely, preferring instead to rely upon their mundane, physical strength and ability above all blood-gifted supernatural powers. The Exiles believe the elements are a piece of Divinity and that it is not right to touch that divinity except through the express permission of the gods themselves. That’s not to say they do not practice the supernatural arts, merely that they believe their bloodline powers to be ‘stealing’ that which is rightfully the gods’.
Due to the lack of cohesion, the Confederated Exiles are little more than roving nomads and only hold a ‘border’ (such as it is) by virtue of the land being too hostile for other nations to be able to mount a successful incursion. The result of this is an extremely isolated society with limited contact to the outside world. This suits both sides just fine as the Exiles believe other nations to be blasphemers and others believe the Exiles to be crazy.
